Happy New Year from all at bound : unbound collective!

We are delighted to be starting the year with a group show at the The &Gallery at 17 Dundas Street, Edinburgh – bound : unbound the exhibition opens 20 January – 28 February. (please click the exhibition title above to be taken to the online catalogue)

&Gallery is owned and curated by owner Avril Nicol who, since 2013 as a founding partner in &Collective (formerly based in Bridge of Allan), has built her reputation for curating modern and forward thinking exhibitions of contemporary visual and applied art.

Avril writes: ‘The members of bound : unbound come from a variety of disciplines: Felicity Bristow and Lynda Wilson share backgrounds in architecture, Liza Green is a textile artist, Susie Wilson’s engagement is with printmaking and Susie Leiper’s with calligraphy and painting. All five artists come together through the medium of the book. In a group exhibition their works sing with variety and astound in the scope of their creativity. When artist books and wall pieces are shown together – as they will be at &Gallery in January – visitors can begin to understand the place of the artist book within the wider practice of each artist. Formerly known as the Artist Book Group, the members of bound : unbound have been working and exhibiting together for almost ten years. They presented a major installation in one of the vaults at the 2014 Hidden Door Festival near Waverley Station, treating the whole vault as a book, and they have held group exhibitions in the galleries of MacNaughtan’s Bookshop and Patriothall Studios in Edinburgh, at the Lyth Arts Centre, Wick, and most recently at Craigard Gallery in Wigtown as part of the Wigtown Book Festival.’

We hope you can pop by and enjoy the exhibition.
