Lynda explores the built and natural environments through sketches and photography before developing her ideas in the studio by drawing, painting, printmaking and artist bookmaking. Artist books are three dimensional and their diversity of structure allows her to echo architectural forms. Themes embrace the water’s edge, coastal findings and cityscapes. Various mediums, particularly screenprinting, stencil and monotype, are incorporated into the books; also pop-up and perforation, to support the contained idea.
Lynda studied architecture at Edinburgh College of Art (1963 – 70), receiving an Andrew Grant Bequest travel award to Italy in 1969. She worked in various public and private architects’ practices, and taught at Edinburgh College of Art (1989 – 2008). She now lives and works as an artist in Edinburgh and is a member of Edinburgh Printmakers.
